Dimensioning truncated diameter

Hello

I have a rating problem.

When I want to dimension a diameter that is not integer, SW dimensions at the radius (having placed a construction line beforehand). There is no possibility of going back to the diameter of this dimension.

I have to place a sketch with a construction line to be able to go back to the diameter.

Can't we do it directly with the construction line? (see PC)

Hello Aurélien

Can you check this which works for STP sketches (I haven't tested for MEP)

Initial condition that the dimension in the sketch be  "marked for the drawing.

==> Click on the dimension ==> Click on the display option ==> Show as radius

Wow!

Keep us informed STP

Kind regards

Thank you for your answer zozo, however I don't want to import the dimension from the 3D but put them directly on the plan...

Just dimension in the plan and then do as shown.

I guess you know how in a sketch to have: either the diameter or the radius relative to the axis of rotation. If you pull your odds  to the right or left, you have either the radius or the diameter.

Kind regards

I don't know why, when I switch to one side or the other it doesn't automatically switch to Ø (SW settings?)

And I have the diameter option only if I'm drawing a sketch line, not with the construction lines

Hello

For a shot looking at the image it should answer your problem.

may the force be with you.

Hello

Could you share the file in question?

You will get more feedback.

Precisely OBIWAN, the diameter option in the banner on the left (attachment line tab), I only have it with a construction sketch...

@aurelien ITB | I have the impression that the cutting line does not go through the axis?

may the force be with you.

Hi @aurelien itb,

You can use the "Model object" command right next to "smart dimensioning".

Be careful, this command will make you see all the ribs present in your view.

To clarify the context (and because I have the same problem).

I made a bogus part:

The axis line is the one obtained by the "construction line" command.
The dimension attached to this line does not allow for the radius/diameter option.

by creating a sketch line "for construction",

you have access to the desired option.

Is it really normal to have to make a sketch line, which will have to be constrained (with the risks of error that this implies)?

Hello Stefbeno, we have exactly the same problem, except that you may have been clearer than me.

I have the impression (once again?) that SW created a function (construction line) and didn't go to the end of things.

It's not normal to have to retrace a sketch over the construction line, to be able to dimension a diameter, right?

In addition, it doesn't even automatically recognize the view, if you haven't double-clicked it before putting down your sketch...

Hello

Another hack I specify not great but which does the job consists of showing the sketch in the tree and rating it on the plan.

may the force be with you.
