Hi all
I am having a problem with a flat sheet metal.
The design consists of laying a ferrule flat while keeping a marking for plasma cutting.
Usually, I draw my ferrule in classic extrusion and then I split it to then insert a sheet metal fold and be able to lay it flat.
It works very well, I would like to keep a marking line for this project to align the ferrules with each other.
I can't keep this marking when unfolding.
If I use a projected curve, it doesn't follow the ferrule when flattening.
If I use a separator line, I get an error when flattening.
Do you have a solution

?
I put the file in pj
I also put screenshots

Hello, here is a simpler example to make a ferrule with a marking, if I understood the question correctly...
ferrule. SLDPRT (91.2 KB)
Thanks M-Scofield but this is not exactly what I want to do because I would like to position the line when the ferrule is bent.
Hello
If the marking makes it difficult for you to align your ferrule in an assembly, use a construction plan instead that can serve as an alignment reference.
If the marking is to be engraved when machining the ferrule flat but has no interest in the assembly, then take a look at this:

This is your file that I have slightly retouched.
With us, we add a material removal on the unfolded config.
Kind regards.
I haven't tested if it's possible, probably... if it's for a question of precise positioning, my method is to calculate the arc dimension = Perimeter ext / 360 then I multiply the result by the desired position angle.
This dimension that I use in the marking on the press , be careful to mark the lower or upper surface
Hello a_eriaud,
It works but as with Scofield's solution, I'd like to position it when the ferrule is bent.
Indeed I didn't specify but the marking must be engraved to position the ferrules during the physical assembly.
Yes it works, I was looking for a slightly more automated solution let's say.
Come on, I'll take it
Hello @g_terraz,
Does this answer your problem?
folding and marking of the ferrule. SLDPRT (208.3 KB)
A priori, the marking does not remain during the DXF export...
future version, I can't see your chosen solution but I'm interested?
I can't record in 2022 format (although the option exists, you apparently have to be under contract to be able to do it...)
It's pretty much the same solution as a_eriaud, extrude a small mark and then make a sketch once unfolded.
