3D text creation

Hello, do you have a trick to create text directly in 3d, for example in a sketch that can be extruded later?

Hello

Using design libraries can help speed up the creation of extruded text.

Hello

It's good under CATIA:

I use Inkscape to create a DXF of my text (less facetized than in CATIA)

Then I open the DXF in CATIA and copy and paste the contents of the view into a sketch.

If it's good under CATIA I'll make you a video.

Now it's time to make it and convert it to mpg4

Of course you can directly type text in a CATDrawing CATIA, save in DXF, then reopen the DXF after the same procedure

However, with InksCape, we considerably reduce the number of small facets, such as file size, Update times, etc.

As much for me @franck.ceroux it's on CATIA^^'

Hello

I confirm, to make texts or letters in 3D, you have to go through a DXF in Catia V5.
This DXF can also be generated by Catia.
Once imported into a Catdrawing, this DXF offers an outline that is selected and then pasted into the sketch of a Catpart. It must then be positioned and scaled in the sketch.

Here are three tutorials in French to make texts and apply them on more or less complex surfaces:

The first on a flat surface.
The second on a flat surface
The third on a surface of revolution
The fourth concerns the marking of a tire sidewall.

I hope this covers all the cases of 3D marking under Catia V5.

FYI there is an official add-on to CATIA V5 and 3DEXPERIENCE to make text.
Add-on that has been validated by Dassault Systèmes as a Solution Partner since 2003.
There's even a 30-day trial version on their site to test for free: https://type3-caa.com/fr/

Creating text in Catia is made easy by the Type3CAA plugin: https://type3-caa.com/fr/

All the settings necessary to construct text are possible by respecting the height, width, kerning of the font and with the possibility of applying them on multiple lines but also on multiple supports. Any fonts that come with Windows OS or are already installed by the user through the CATIA® installation are directly integrated into TYPE3-CAA and are available for all Catia functions. The text created is associative and is inserted into the Catia construction tree, so it can be modified infinitely without breaking the construction history of the part.

The trial version is free here: https://type3-caa.com/fr/version-essai/
