Creating a Curved Cover for a Curved Door Handle

Hello,

I just replicated this door handle.

I need to " easily " reproduce the lid that will clip into the 5 notches located on the curved surface.

How do I do this easily and quickly starting from the curved cutout I made, please?

Is the easiest way to make a geodesic surface offset of 0.1mm for example and copy the sketch into a new room?

Please add a screenshot and/or a STEP or Parasolid equivalent for those who cannot open the attached file.

Parasolid is not allowed so I add the WWTP.

At the time for me for the Solidworks version, it's the 2025.

Otherwise, I'll work on the curved cut (Lid) in the assembly + 0.1mm reduced projection of the sketch of the 5 notches (One notch = one sketch to control the extrusion direction) and then a Draft function...
And I'll add a small notch or a removal of material on one edge so that I can remove it with a small screwdriver...

No, I'm sorry, I don't have any supplier reference anymore... I tried to search with the information I was given but without success and it's already been a while ...

I didn't use the draft. I copied and pasted the 3D sketch into a new part but by extruding it created a non-modifiable angle on the thickness of the part (see 3D file). When I try to change the angle of the plane to 45° for example, it changes the angle on the other side like with a mirror...

Can I create a part from assembly? and then modify it? And if I modify the handle, the lid follows, right?

I don't have Sldws in front of me anymore. But it seems to me that there is a way to:

  1. Create a large block of material
  2. integrate the original piece as a " derivative piece" in the large block 1)
  3. Subtract the derivative part from the large block
  4. Add the few necessary changes

This would allow you to have the " negative " of your handle to then work on what you want?

A proposal using classic functions and which allows you to manage the play between the handle and the lid.

  • Create an " Offset Surface" of the bottom of the footprint, with an offset of 0.0 mm. This generates a new surface body: " Surface-Shift3 ".
    Hide the volume body of the " Leave2 " handle.

  • In a 3D sketch, create a sketch outline 0.5 mm away from the outer contour of the face by " Offset on Surface ". This value must be adapted to match the desired clearance between the handle and the future lid.

  • Use the " Restrict Surface " surface function to remove the outer edge.

  • Use the " Boss/Base " > " Thicken " function to give the plate its thickness (1 mm). Uncheck the " Merge result " box to create a second volume body, the lid.

  • This body can be saved as a part by right-clicking on the " Bulkhead " branch of the building tree, then " Save Bodies " option.

All that remains is to create the holding claws on the handle...

I just tried m_blt and I understood the logic well and the great thing is that if I want to change the handle and the lid " at the same time ", if I can say so, the isolated file of the lid updates itself!! I love !!
