Creating a Stretch Part Model to Insert into the Assembly Context

Hello

I am looking to insert into an assembly a pre-registered part (from a model) whose dimensions can follow constraints imposed since the assembly.

Is this possible?

Hello @vincent.slb

by creating your part in the assembly

Extrusion between 2 planes (it's the offset value of these planes that will define the size of your part

if I understood the problem correctly ;-)

Hello @gt22,

In fact, I want to import a part from a model to avoid redrawing everything. In this case, the constraints I add lead to contradictions in my piece.

By evidence @vincent.slb

so recreating a new piece is I think preferable

So you take back your piece, you transform it via limits to the plan and you rename this said part

And it also depends on the type of room

It worked!

Thank you!!

After stretching it on the X axis to adapt the furniture to a space, I would like to be able to do the same on the Z axis, or even on the three axes.

Can I associate the dimension of a sketch with an offset between two planes (as with the use of the extrude function between two planes)?

Via 3D sketches?

@vincent.slb

It would have been wiser to start

To explain the problem of your request

From the start

So a model of furniture

that we want to be able to modify the sides in XYZ

images, the part file (in parasolid) to allow reading for everyone

would have been wise

The DriveWorks add-in is made for

otherwise create the furniture in assembly

and make sure that all the parts of the said assembly are constrained via the external frame

in that case everything will follow

Hello

For those who only make furniture or wooden things, it is better to equip yourself with SWOOD full SW compatible and fully parametric (see towards the end of the video.

At this stage, a solution has been found on the basis of the advice of gt22

Creation of a 3D sketch,

Creation of reference plans  (1 per face),

Referencing the geometry of the 3D sketch in relation to the reference planes,

Create a part template.

Thus, the geometry guided by the 3D sketch will follow the dimensions indicated by the reference planes. They will be used to parameterize the part in the context of an assembly.

If anyone has a more efficient method under solidworks pro I'm interested. Otherwise I'll go see driveworks or swood on occasion.
