Create Facets on Solidworks Parts

Hi, currently learning Solidworks, I can't find how to create "facets" on my parts, there must be a technique with plans or other. In short, I want to make facets like in the image in PC.

If you have an idea;)

Good evening

There are several possible methods, either you do them in surface with 3D sketches or plans.

Or in volume by creating a cube and removing material from this cube

Hello

I will try to

- Create a dot around the vase.

- a sketch (in a vertical plane) with the dividing line function.

- a smoothed boss connecting the sketch and the point.

Thank you both!

Matthieu.Koch , do you have more details about your method? A screen of the building tree or other?

I'm a novice as, I want to do these facets on this piece:

I did some screen prints.

It's a tedious method. Do you have an exact picture or drawing of what you want? Maybe there are simpler things but it depends on whether your shapes are redundant or random.

Matthieu, I'll try this as soon as possible, I think it's going to do it!

I posted a picture of my piece in my previous reply!

So  ? Are you getting by?

I was just on it, to create the veneers it's OK, no worries on that side, thank you for your answer, very useful!

Did you see the picture I posted in my previous reply, of the piece I'm trying to create? To achieve this result, I created a rectangle block that I cut out and I made a heavy leave to get the rounding... Is there a technique to get to this room more cleanly?

 There are other solutions.

For me, this piece must be made on a surface in order to better control the curves.

You draw surface 1 and surface 2 by making sketches and using the "flat surface" function

Surface 3 will be made up of two functions :

  • You do a surface extrusion in the x direction to give the rounding.
  • You " restrict  surface " by sketching  along the z-axis to fine-tune the outline.

Surface 4 is the most complicated. You can first try to do it with " smoothing surface".

  • You choose the outline of surface 1 and surface 3 in profile.
  • You choose in curve guide the contours of the surface 2
  • Then you play with the constraints of departure and arrival.

You don't necessarily manage the form but it can work. If you want to go further, you need to create a curve on the YZ plane that has the shape of your outer curve. Once drawn, you use the same smoothing function but this time with this extra curve as a guide curve.

Then you sew all the sides. You put the holidays and then it's over !

Great tutorial to help you in areal area ! :
