In a balloon, display a manual BOM value

Hi all

In a BOM, you need to create a column with manually entered values.

Is it possible to retrieve these values in BOM bubbles?

Not sure without going through a custom property and then in the bubble by choosing the custom property.

But I guess it's not exactly your wish that you don't want to go through a custom property.

Indeed, we can't use custom properties in this case.

To set the context, our client uses a particular system for identifying components: it is neither the article number (we could rely on it but we need to add characters), nor the part number.
In addition, we have "fictitious" components (like glue for example) that we have to make appear in nomenclature but that we don't put in 3D. For some, I convinced my client to make empty components (just fixed at the origin) which avoids having to enter everything every time, but the base is far from complete.

In this case, apart from convincing him to put the standard bubble and the missing information is then found in the BOM line, there is no other solution.

From personal experience (internal numbering a few years ago) personalized numbering quickly becomes hell, for a contribution often not little or not justified to the workshop.

Proof of this when we changed no one remarked to us in the workshop, while some managers made a mountain out of it...

FYI, I just tried to force the item number in the nomenclature and then do an automatic bubble on 2020 and it works.

I don't know if this will help you, but it can be a clue.

Here the first 2 n° (1 and 2 are forced)

See another way to modify these numbers by macro if need to automate

Oh but that's super interesting.
I forward it to my colleague.

On the substance of the problem, I agree with you but it will take a little time.
In fact, usually, we work with Inventor and it works we don't really know how. For once, we worked with SW (at our request), so it's difficult to be demanding.
