Request for support for the realization of a simulation of a prototype of a hybrid solar dryer

As part of my research work on the improvement of cocoa drying processes, I would like to request your technical support for the realization of an experimental simulation of a hybrid solar dryer.

The device in question is designed to combine solar energy and biomass top-up, in order to optimize drying time, reduce the energy footprint and preserve the quality of the cocoa beans.

A reduced prototype is envisaged, intended only for simulation in the laboratory or workshop, to test:

  • the operation of the drying tunnel,
  • the efficiency of the forced ventilation system,
  • thermal regulation (solar collectors and biomass back-up),
  • the quality of the airflow through the racks.

General Description

Reduced prototype (functional model) intended for laboratory simulation of solar and hybrid drying (solar + biomass).

Main components

  • Structure: metal or PVC frame, covered with cellular polycarbonate.

  • Drying tunnel: removable racks (treated wood or stainless steel).

  • Solar thermal collector: absorbent panel painted black (surface ≈ 0.20 × 0.30 m).

  • Forced ventilation: 2 mini 12V fans (computer fan type).

  • Miniature biomass burner: or 12V electric resistance for simulation.

  • Heat exchanger: small metal duct.

  • IoT sensors: temperature and humidity (type DHT22),

  • Arduino smart controller that receives data from sensors and automatically controls equipment (fans, heater, burner) to regulate drying.

Operation

The air is heated by the solar collector and/or biomass make-up.
The fans provide forced circulation in the tunnel.
The racks receive small quantities of beans or test products (300–500 g).
IoT sensors record temperature and humidity continuously.

The easiest way is surely to benchmark the existing rather than reinvent everything.

The other solution is to have a vocational school work on this project: elec, boilermaking, plans, automation, there is something for all possible professional baccalaureates / BTS.

From your last diagram, can you tell us on which part you are asking for our Help. Say otherwise where are you. ?

Plans you've already made
Parts purchased or purchasable off-the-shelf.
Is your concept set in stone?
Confirm that you want to make a lab device and not a daily production dryer.
What are the points you are struggling with or need help?
The attached diagram does not match the dimensions you specify in your first message.
In addition, the transition from a reduced size (lab?) to a larger size for production will not give the same results.
