Out-of-date density in mass property

Hello

As you can see from the screenshot below:

I have a problem with mass calculation.
When I change the material (no matter what material I use), it is applied to my part but the density is not updated for mass calculation.

Do you know if there is an option or property to update so that the density follows that of the material?
Or if a part repair option exists? I think the problem comes from me, can be corrupted.

Thank you
Joris

Hello

To be sure that the mass is updated, can you check that in the tab "replace mass properties..." that the three boxes are properly unchecked. (especially the first one)

they are well unchecked

In options check, I have this and no worries (sw2020 SP5):

By default I have this option checked. while testing I ticked the next one, and there is no difference

And this box? (Update ground props):

Hello;

Check if your " Part " does not have, by chance, materials associated directly on the Bodies

  • Expand the Welded Parts List
(This often happens on components imported or converted from other 3D formats).
As with mechanically welded materials, it is possible to force some profiles with materials other than the one declared in the construction shaft.

Example:
The main material is E24 (RAL 7036) but the 80x80x4 square profile is " forced " in 304L stainless steel.

In this case, right-clicking on the body allows you to remove the material from the body (it will default to the " General " material declared in your build tree.

Kind regards.

Thank you @sbadenis, I've already tested it and it doesn't work, and I looked in the options but I didn't find what is blocking.

No other idea, have you looked if a matter is attributed to a body (Cf @Maclane )
If not, can you share your piece?
Or what version of SW? (maybe a SW bug...)

Thank you for your answers, but the part is composed of a single volume body with a removal of matter by a surface body, the change of matter is done correctly on the volume body and no matter is assigned to the surface body.

I can't share the share
We use SW 2019, and I tested it with SW 2022. and I can't find a solution.

In the meantime, we have recreated the share to avoid this problem.

A surface cannot have weight, it's quite logical (unless you fill or thicken this surface to have a volume)

It's obvious
I noted this in relation to the fact that no matter was attached to the surface body and that the problem therefore did not come from there.

Hello
Isn't there an inadvertent property of the file that would pollute (take over) the density of the material?

Hello @tous
For my part, I have two remarks
1, The properties density 7.9g/cm3, mass and volume of the part are correct.
2, this material is not available in my standards sw database, I imagine that you downloaded it or created it, this may be where the problem in the option window comes from!

Hello.

No, no properties are used at this stage of the design

Hello

Indeed, it is a material that we have created. And the problem does not arise for other parts that use it.
But no matter what material we use for this part, the material property does update but not the density in the mass property window

Hello
I just did the manip (SW 2019 SP5.0), there is no problem, the density, as well as the other properties of the material, is well updated when a change. Right-click on the material row in the Feature Manager and edit the material. After choosing the new material, don't forget to click Apply and not Close, otherwise the change will not be taken into account.
Apart from that, but I think you've already thought about it, I don't see, apart from a bug, what can cause this error.
Kind regards

Hello
Yes I think there is a bug on this file, because this problem is only found on this part.
For the moment, we have simply recreated the part without solving the problem.
