Moving files in EPDM

Hello

Is it possible  to automatically move a file from one folder to another during a transition?

Thank you

Good evening

EPDM doesn't natively allow this. A specific add-in developed could do this using the PDM API.

If you have skills in this field and the ability to compile a code, you can do it, if not, you should contact a PDM consultant from your reseller who will probably be able to develop a custom solution for you.

It is indeed possible to move a file automatically after a state change by using the Dispatch add-in

Hello

It must be a novelty of 2017 then. On 2016 it is not possible to move a file, dispatch allows the copy/paste of a file or the movement of a folder but not of a single file (unless of course I am wrong).

If it's to move solidworks files, the interest seems to me a priori low compared to the risks/pb incurred (fair to files grayed out in the local views of users following the transition in question on one of the workstations).

If you want to move files created from SW (pdf, dwg, dxf please...) the best thing to do is to use the task module to do export tasks. It is perfectly possible to automatically generate a pdf (or any other exportable file) via a task launched automatically during your transition. The save path is configurable in the task via variables (there is not a crazy choice on the other hand which can limit your creativity when it comes to the final name of the path).

Good luck
