I'm looking to make a round label with holes that would stick on a cylinder. I wish to have its unfolded.
Without the unfolded, making the label is not a problem. I specify that I don't have the "unfolded surface" command which would have helped me a lot....
So I tried sheet metal by following the following steps:
- Make a curved rectangular sheet metal
- The unfolded
- Make my cuts
- Folded (here I am stuck because I can no longer specify the edge..)
When you make your rectangular sheet metal, you have to fool the software by putting a small flat in your radius to be able to unfold and fold as in the attachment.
The key is to know if your label should be round once glued or flat because if it's glued it's not fair. A normal removal of material would have to be done without unfolding the piece.
+1 for AC Cobra. Otherwise there is the bending function, but it requires a lot of resources, after if it's for an uncomplicated part I think it would be enough.
As a matter of course, you can't use a sketch projected onto a curved surface because it doesn't account for the bending of the part if in reality, the cut or printing is done flat and then curved.
Going through the sheet metal work but is not perfect I think (forced to make a dish)
On the other hand, thank you for the info about the Flexion function because it works niquel!, I didn 't know it.
I attached a file to my previous answer, but be careful with this function, check your Ø carefully, sometimes when you change dimensions the reference center of the bending changes, the best is to constrain it by creating a new coordinate system (see my part). In addition, it is not possible to have a correct preview with total developed length, the little trick is to reference the planes of the function according to the ends of a straight line of length equal to the average Ø x Pi, and to subtract 0.002mm from the extrusion (see my part).
