Design Center on Draftsight

Hello

I work in a design office and we use Autocad to make layouts on plans / sections. Unfortunately, not all of us have Autocad and our sales reps, who don't draw much, only have Draftsight. I have created several libraries of blocks in Autocad that we use for almost every drawing. The problem is that I can't find anything under Draftsight to reuse these libraries. Under Autocad, we use the Design Center to search for and integrate each block but I can't find the equivalent under DS...

Does anyone know if there is a Designcenter-type feature that would allow us to insert blocks at will?

and If not, what method can I use to achieve an equivalent result??

Thank you, Cdt,

Joss

I think that for autocad, it's a full version (not the light one). As far as Drafsight is concerned, this is not possible in its basic version. For the Premium version (I don't know the new designation) maybe but I'm not sure. The content of paid licenses has been changed recently.

For the blocks, traditional insertion except that you have to know all the references.

Someone has a good idea, I'm also interested!

Hello

There is no Design Center for DraftSight yet: it is one of the most requested improvements, but not yet implemented.

The simplest, but not very practical, is to have a dual screen, two instances of DraftSight open (in Windows 7 you have to click on the program with the wheel in the taskbar) and use one of the instances to display a DWG file that would contain all the blocks that the design center would contain!

Tip to find your way around this huge DWG that would contain all the blocks:

Put an annotation with the name just below each block to search for text in DraftSight.

Unfortunately, there is no simpler solution!

Ouch, I suspected it, but the problem is that our salespeople don't have dual screens, they have absolutely no use for them^^

Otherwise, for now, the only way I've found is to create a dwg that contains: and a big library of blocks, and several presentations with cartridges, they open the file in read-only mode every time they want to make a drawing and they copy and paste around moving the elements they want inside frames that represent the cartridge:s not very fast and not very practical...
