I think that the way you manage bolts under SW is intimately linked to the way you manage bolts in your company. With us, all parts have an article code, so we also manage article codes on the bolts.
For the filling of the BOM under SW, in addition to our article code in one column, we have several columns of labels. If you want to be specific, the best thing to do is to follow @FRED78's example and take the designation of the standard. If you think it's too lordly (which is true), you can lighten it as long as the users of the plan (client, editor...) understand it. The main thing is to have the most complete wording possible (so ideally that of the standard), on the documents that allow you to supply your bolts (CAPM generally).
The columns of the nomenclature must be defined. We have set up two bills of materials, Manufacturing and Trade. Manufacturing BOM column: Rep / identification (file number) / index model / description / qty / mass / material / protection
Trade nomenclature column (including screws): Rep / description / qty / mass / material / standard / protection In the case of a screw: xx / H Screws - M12x50 / xx /xx kg / CL8 / ISO 4017 _ 898-1 / tZn _ Hot Galva In the case of a bolt: xx / H Screws - M30x200 / xx /xx kg / CL10.9-10 / ISO 4017 _ 898-1 _NF EN 15048 / tZn / Hot Galvanized The designation must be distributed in all the boxes to define a screw, it does not necessarily have to be in a single cell. But all the elements must be present and correspond to the standard. The standard is not an imposition but it is manufactured and offered by the manufacturers and suppliers by the designation proposed in the standard. In certain specialized and meticulous fields (nuclear), the standard is a mandatory language, as is its application. The shape of the nomenclature can also be imposed by the customer, which helps us to orient ourselves on the form of it for customers who do not impose anything.
Okay, the idea for us is to condense all of this a little bit. For example, we would have a designation/material with its integrated finish. This gives us in the case of a screw: " H Screws - M12x50 / Hot-dip galvanized 8.8 steel" for a galvanized screw " H Screw - M12x50 / Zinc Plated 8.8 Steel" for a Zinc Plated Screw " H Screws - M12x50 / A4-70 " for a stainless steel screw The same goes for nuts and bolts On the other hand, for washers, there is no notion of 8.8 steel but rather 200HV They are simply called: Washer - Ø12 / Galvanized steel with chaud_Zingué_A4
