Determining the weight of a part

Hello

What is the fastest way to find out the weight of a coin please?

Thank you in advance.

Hello

Just click shift-M for Solidworks

And for Autocad, make the part, then put it on a scale... ;-)

Provided that the materials are well informed and applied (Solidworks)....

For Autocad

You can't use Archimedes' method (sniff)

For the record, the question was whether a crown was actually made of pure gold or whether the gold had been mixed with a cheaper metal. Problem not to damage the crown!
Archimedes would first have determined the mass of the corona (m0 = 0.44 kg) and then its apparent mass while it was immersed in water (m' = 0.409 kg). Using these two measurements, he determined the density of the crown and realized that the crown was not pure gold.

Kind regards

You are a slanderer on Autocad.
The part can be modeled in 3D and Autocad is able to measure the volume, so it remains to be multiplied by the density.

Hello

Thank you all for your answers.

@ sbadenis and  Zozo_mp → On AutoCAD I have no trouble automatically having the weight of different solids (3D volume) sorry, I filled in the form incorrectly when creating the topic, my question is only about SolidWorks.

@ac cobra 427 → At home Shift-M doesn't work by default. So I applied this keyboard shortcut to the "Mass Property" command.

@ stefbeno → The method you describe is correct but it is also possible to add to AutoCAD the free GeomProps application which allows you to automatically obtain the weight of the selected solids (provided you have applied the appropriate factor to the materials).

There you go, thank you again for your help as a SolidWorks beginner that I am.
