Dimension of a plan object in the model

I must be doing it wrong, I still can't do it.
I started by selecting the function in the tree of the corresponding view. I selected everything well like you ... and nothing!
I can't find the option you indicate to see the hidden dimensions and annotations. Maybe my 2021 SP4 version doesn't allow it (?) EDIT : J'ai trouvé, une option de la personnalisation de la barre d'outil qui n'était pas cochée

If I make the entire model, I end up with a plethora of dimensions that I don't want to have right away

Does the fact that it is a dimension of positioning a plane make it more complex?

Sometimes SW doesn't like to insert the dimensions on the sectional views.
Or the positioning dimension is on another view.
Did you try adding the same nn cut view to see if your dimension in relation to the plan appears?

Indeed, if this is in relation to a plane, and your cut is not in the right plane, it will not come.
If it's just for a rating, add it by hand.

What happens if, in the "Model Objects", instead of choosing "Entire Model" as the source, you choose "Selected Function" instead?
This should limit the dimensions imported (it all depends on your 3D design mode).

Otherwise, but I don't find this function ineffective, it is possible (in your sketches) to deselect some dimensions to export in your Drawing. Of course I forgot the name of this function but it is accessible by right-clicking on the dimensions (I think it's about "declare this dimension for the Layout" or something similar.

Well, is it possible, if I understand correctly, to have the 3D model at best if it is not confidential, or else take screenshots of your 3D part detailing each step of the realization of your part, i.e. each function with the dimensioning as previously done on your MEP.

Otherwise you always go to your creation tree, you go to the function where you want to have this dimension and you insert it manually and that's it, it should come in your desired view of MEP, but will not be editable.

Do you have the same pb on a very stupid test part?

Try putting all the available views in the mep, and retest the side import in all the views. to see if it would not be placed on a 90° plane.

@Maclane, nothing happens precisely when I choose " selected function". That's why I come to use " object of the template "... but too many dimensions that are displayed and without the possibility to select some of them (a Creo point that I miss that)

@A.A, what do you call manually inserting the dimension from the creation tree?
I'm not against detailing each step of the realization of my piece ... but it's going to be very long! (67 functions)
That said, if it's to come up with this famous plan, luck: it's my second job.
So I did an extrusion of one Ø and then placed the plane at a certain distance


This allows me to pull an extrusion up to this surface (and hang a bunch of other functions on it afterwards)

The problem is that this function in the sense of function for drawings does not exist.
The function ends on a plan and therefore does not have a dimension to display.
So I don't really see a solution except to uncheck all the dimensions that you don't want to appear in the plan and thus use the entire model.

So I wanted to say, when you go into your 3D model, you go to the function where you want to have this dimension, you simply put it in the sketch of the function where you want to have this dimension.

To answer your question, which I'm going to answer not a question, why use a plan to make an extrusion?

I would simply do this cylindrical extrusion at the desired dimension, and then the desired material removal.
And so all your rating will be put in your plan.

On SW2020 using a plane and an extrusion until this plane no worries the dimension of 53.3, fits well with the objects of the model and the option marked for the drawing.

@sabadenis : I also just tested, the dimension is only inserted if you choose "whole model" in the import of the model's objects.
But do you manage to import this dimension with just import "selected function"? I didn't succeed under SW2020

More prosaically, because I'm used to thinking that way.
There, you can't see it on the test part, but I have a few other functions that use this plan afterwards (among other things for drafts)
In addition, I like to have a reference and identified plane to move rather than looking for the initial function hoping not to have messed up. And the icing on the cake, I can remove an extrusion without losing my hook plane for the other functions :wink:

So, after calling on Visiativ's help, a little feedback from them:

Go to the model construction tree, under annotation and link the dimension of the plane with an annotation view that goes well. (double click on the function => right click on the dimension => select the annotation view => choose the one that works well or move from one annotation to another if you don't have a display bug)

Then in the 2D, display the view palette then select the view corresponding to the annotation view and drag and drop on the plan

The dimension then comes with the plane. Remember to select "Import annotations => design annotations" if this is not the case

Drag with shift+mouse to the already projected view.

Obviously, there is still a bug for not being able to do it with the "object of the model" function :slight_smile:

I design in the same way. The switch to Creo must not be entirely innocent to this method of design. :sweat_smile:
