Displacement mapping in SW

Hello SolidWorkers

Here is my problem of the day:

Is it possible to report a surface in displacement mapping on a localized area of a surface without the pattern repeating indefinitely?

I thought about cutting my volume in the part concerned but it poses a problem for my drawing...

Have you ever faced this problem? I specify that I am in SW2014

and why you won't do like a sticker

So you create your piece (sticker) with your surface finish as you wish

and you put it on the desired side with the constraints that go well

See this video among other things not in French but explicit all the same

gt22,

Yes, I've already tried to propose the decal solution to my client (see PC), but he really wants the pattern to appear in stamping (0.5mm depth) on the renderings, hence my problem...

so in 0.5 mm extra thickness for the wireframe patterns

In my opinion you will have to follow this tutorial

and take your drawing again to make a projection on the recipient body

Unfortunately, I've already tried, only the logo is really much too complicated, and I spent hours on it without getting through it, there are so many details that it's an impressive amount of small elements, so it's slow!

I also tested the "autotrace" function but without success either because the image resolution is not sufficient.

No, I was wrong, it's not stamp, it's hollow (teacher 0.5) but it doesn't matter...

You can post the image of your engraving to see what is possible

So for this kind of thing (I say thing because it's not my cup of tea)

My laser engraver processes the images with illustrator, the vectorized ones in fact a .ais see dxf with a converter and cost me I stick it on my cylinder plates etc...

Well, normally, I don't have the right to distribute this kind of documentary, but hey, we won't say ;-) I'm trying right now to improve the sharpness of the image so that autotrace works and doesn't shoot half of the details.

@SEPM. Gerald

In fact, it's only for the realistic rendering, it shouldn't appear on the plan. Then at the time of manufacture, it will be done with a laser normally

So Solidworks recognizes an illustrator file... but to stick it on a piece..... especially round..... I don't see how to do it

To glue a drawing to a surface, you must first find a way to transform it into a sketch. Then after that, there are two techniques, either you make a winding directly, or you make a deformation "curve to curve" and the advantage is that you manage more parameters like that...

Hello and Happy New Year everyone!

Well here I am back with my pb of LOGO.

After many more or less conclusive trials, here is the method I opted for.

It must be the fastest and also the one that allows you to get as close as possible to the original design.

1- I opened the image in Adobe Illustrator to vectorize it:

2- I then exported it in dwg format:

3- import under SW in a sketch, then a little cleaning.

4- Extrusion:

Well, this "small" manipulation took me several days for it to be to my liking... But the game is worth the candle

All I have to do is roll it up on my tube and then it will be great!!
