4K Display for Solidworks

Hello Community,

Have any of you ever tried Solidworks on a 4K resolution screen? What does it look like?

Hello

It has to follow the graphics card level, but normally no problems.

I'd like to know the rendering by the way.

A little explanation here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/4K-for-solidworks.html

See the attached pdf

basically, a 4K screen + an M4000 card: The must =)

Hello

What is the purpose exactly? Because personally, I'm not sure it's useful to have a 4k screen for SolidWorks below 32 inches.

First of all, you need a very powerful graphics card, and I'm not sure you can see the difference on a screen unless you're glued to it!

So you might as well look for a dual screen, it's much more pleasant.

Hello

it is true that 4 K would be more useful on a 1.5 meter diagonal screen than on a 66 cm diagonal.

The one at myCadDay?.....

Tactile...; He left me dreaming.... =) :o

In our meeting room, we have a 1.50m diagonal one, it's great for presentations and displaying renderings .

Hello, it's true that I have a Porsche engine in my 4L, it's great! (the exit is this way? ok...) :) No, I think 4K is not the most important. You can have a completely decent rendering with any screen, as long as the graphics card is good.

After all, it depends on what you want to do.

Have a good weekend

Are we getting lost here:p

Cyrille just asked: "Have any of you ever tried Solidworks on a 4K resolution screen? What does it look like? "

- No, I've never tried

-it gives what I showed you on the pdf.

I think that some people here have them and will be able to tell you precisely what it looks like. ;)

Have a good day =)

Thank you Bart☺ for your intervention, but don't worry, everyone has the right to give their opinion even if I grant you that no one has answered the question yet... 4k screens must not be very common!

Theoretically, the eye's resolving power is sufficient to perceive the difference between 27" full HD and 4K screens (eye's resolving power at 50 cm: 0.15 mm, at 70 cm: 0.2 mm. Full HD 27" pixel size: 0.31 mm, 4k: 0.15 mm )
It remains to be seen in practice...

Hello

It's sure that it's great, the image quality is second to none. On the other hand, apart from posting 1 to 2 presentations of pieces in the year I can't say more, I haven't worked on it. But if you have the opportunity to have one, don't hesitate, it can only be beneficial. And don't forget to give us feedback on your feelings please.

Have a nice day

You also need a nice graphics card

A Dream Color calibrated screen with a probe is also not bad and allows you to have real colors

And we're pretty surprised by the result....................

not in my budget ;-(

Oh yes, for sure, the price is scary!

Not in my budget either! I'm going to avoid paying more for my screen than my station :-) Fortunately, there are some more accessible!

I don't do inforgraphy so realistic colors are not essential, but it could be a plus.

As for the video card, I have a quadro M4000 (which allows you to run 4 screens in 4K, but we're not going to get to that point :-) so it's ok at this level.

I'm going to go around the offers and if I find a nice product I'll do the test. Of course I'll give you feedback later.

Have a nice day

Hi all

I just bought a ZBOOK 17 G4 with a 4k screen (and quadro P5000) and I'm more than disappointed. I have big scaling problems with solidworks 2015 (and 2012 of course). Especially since I have 24" monitors next to it but in FHD... and switching from one screen to another does not solve the display problems.

If you have ideas for options to explore, I'm all for it.

Personally, for a few years now, I have been favoring comfort of use, and taking into account the size of the texts.

Therefore, the following is the size of the screen / resolution / distance from the eyes.

I prefer not to have the texts (windows interface, solidworks interface) in "fly leg" size!

With of course a pixel-matching setting, I prefer not to use "magnification" of text sizes in the windows settings, because it often leads to display problems.

(example: 24" in 1920 x 1200, no more in resolution)

This remains "my opinion" of course

@M.M: What version of Windows are you working with?
If it's W10, look no further.

Hi all

17" 4K ... yes indeed it might cause problems with SW.

I myself have a 4K screen, but in 27" and even if 95% of the use of SW is done without problem with the fonts at max:

There are still a few rare functions that do not respect the enlarged font size.

On the other hand, the 27" 4K screen is a real comfort! Being able to open in A0 plan and be able to read all the dimensions without the need to zoom in or move is a real gain in ergonomics!

Slt has a 4K screen, the resolution is not there, I have small icons etc.. and it is a problem for me because I have to use it for a project. Does anyone have a solution concerning the resolution so that it adapts to my screen thank you in advance

ex when I side I can hardly see

and at the start I don't see the whole sentence
