Remove the Toolbox link from a part

Hello

I use ToolBox parts in my assembly but I modify them in my own way, the problem is that they always have a ToolBox link in them, (Screw symbol in the creation tree.)

I would like to remove this link, what are the steps?

Thank you

Hello

To remove the screw symbol:

You must remove the Isfastener property with a value of 0

Kind regards.

I advise you to keep it, because it allows SW to distinguish between the screws and the other parts. This is particularly interesting for removing the screws when creating a cross-sectional view. In addition, it allows them to be quickly spotted in the assemblies.

Why does this bother you?

This bothers me in the sense that I often have problems with ToolBox parts when opening assemblies so I try to break these links with ToolBox to reduce these problems.

Hello

The procedure proposed by remrem actually modifies the property of the screws (seen in the assembly sections, etc.). To detach a component from the toolbox, you must launch the program sldsetdocprop.exe and then deactivate this toolbox marker for a folder.

How do I remove the "Toolbox" marker on a component derived from a Toolbox part ?

You must use the sldsetdocprop utility which is installed by default when installing SOLIDWORKS. It is located in the folder:

"C:\Program Files\SolidWorks Corp\SolidWorks\Toolbox\data utilities\sldsetdocprop.exe"

Then select the components folder or component and change the property to "no"

yes as @remrem says

It is not wise to break the toolbox links, especially for the screws

it will multiply your screw refs and SW really doesn't need that

and it will weigh down your files for nothing

For your opening of assembly files, you just have to create a screw file in these assemblies

And if you have problems, it's often because the toolboxes are not the same!
