I regularly need to save Solidworks drawings in DWG to send to clients.
My problem is that for an identical plan the DWG file is much heavier (from 800 KB for solidworks to 20,000 KB for DWG for example) and that it therefore sometimes becomes impossible to send them by email.
By doing some tests I could see that the DWG is so heavy because of the company logo present in the cartridge: without the logo the file is only 100 KB instead of 20,000 KB.
I tried using a logo in JPEG and PNG format and nothing changes.
Is there a way to fix this and reduce the size of my DWGs by keeping the company logo in the cartridge.
You can also rework the logo file used with a tool like XnView by changing the size (in pixels) taking into account a resolution of 300dpi (so pixels per inch) and the size you want in the cartridge.
Using this method, when I save a DWG with my logo, the file is about 200 KB longer than without the logo and I keep a pretty decent logo quality. (it's still not bad compared to the file size without logo but it's much better than the 20,000 KB it added to me before)
