Registering a Part Family

Hello everyone,

I made a family of parts in SolidWorks. I would like to record each reference present in this family of parts. How can I do this?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

Have a nice day.

What do you mean by recording each reference? Get a single file (sldprt) for each configuration?

If so, there are MyCAD solutions, including the Integration tool (a very, very complete tool!). If you don't have it or don't want to invest, you should turn to a macro. And there the experts of the genre should not be long!

edit, a similar question here:

And Integration is here:

The goal is to obtain a record in a single file of each configuration present in the macro of the part family.

So an effective response is Integration. There are bound to be Macro solutions, but you have to master the subject or know someone who has already done it.

Hi @ Sebastirn

If you made a family of parts it recorded and referenced

what is your exact need as requested by @ Benoit

if it's to make a plan with several configs

I want to create a record for each configuration present in the part family. The goal is to be able to access the 3D model directly from the registration and not go through the family of parts. Am I clear enough in my expression or not?

Hello

Here's the link to a maccro that saves each configuration of your part family as a part file (.sldprt):

http://www.3dcontentcentral.com/macros/177/files/macro.aspx?id=293131

Here is the link to a topic from a fofo who talks about these maccros and how to modify some of them:

Have a good day;)

Hello

The BatchConverter product of the myCADtools suite contains this feature X

In BatchConverter you do a conversion to SolidWorks type with the option in the screenshot checked.

Otherwise you have to create a macro that performs the processing

Kind regards

Hello

In my opinion, if you save a stand-alone document by congiguration, you lose the flexibility of using and updating the use of these files. Indeed, once you have generated your files, if you need to make a common modification to all your configs, you will have to redo the registration of your parts.

But as @Benoit.LF told you, you have all the tools in the myCADsuite with effectively Integration. If your goal is to create a drawing by configuration, you have the SmartDrawings tool that allows you to automatically generate all the configurations of your part family in a drawing using one sheet per configuration --> the advantage is that all future changes will be reflected in your drawing.

Kind regards
