Hello
Maybe by making a nomenclature?
The same references will be displayed with the correct quantities.
Hello
Could you clarify your question a little?
To quantify the identical elements (from a property point of view) it is necessary, as @Jose-accessa says, to create a nomenclature, but is that really the question?

Hello
Recognize them in the plan or the 3D?
For the plan there is the nomenclature to see the quantity of identical parts
.
And for 3D it is possible to launch a search according to the reference:

Hello
You can specify your request a little,
Alternatively, the SmartProperties tool allows you to rename a file with a document property, and you have an option to replace only the selected component in the assembly or all the same components.
See the chapter "Automatically renaming the document" in the documentation
Hello
If the question is how to compare the geometry of the components to record only a single occurrence of the components...
I can only see one method, and that is to create a macro with the GetCoincidenceTransform2 api
that allow you to see if two components (body) are identical*
Otherwise in "Tools/Compare" you can compare the two parts even it's case by case ....

Hello
There is 3DPartFinder for SolidWorks, which allows you to compare all parts on a server:
http://www.3dpartfinder.com/fr/Questceque3DPartFinder/Produit.aspx
"3DPartFinder searches from a 3D shape rather than alphanumeric characters in the ENOVIA SMARTEAM PDM or in a centralized Windows file server and it identifies duplicates and/or similar geometries in a matter of seconds. 3DPartFinder doesn't need pre-classification and is very easy to use!"
But this comes at a cost!
Hello
Look at the SmartBOM tool, it allows you to create a bill of materials and allows you to put conditions on properties to show in a bill of materials that parts have the same property value
For example, we will group commercial parts in one nomenclature and manufacturing parts in another.
It may help you find the identical parts by performing conditions on the properties.
