Solidworks shell thickness

Good evening

I'm in the process of rebuilding a surface hull. It's the first time I've worked like this and I can't seem to thicken it.

I searched on several forums but I couldn't find a solution.

So I turn to you. I attached the file and a screenshot.

thank you in advance

A tutorial that helps with surfaces

Good evening

To be able to give a thickness to your shell, your surfaces must all be sewn.

So that in fact you only have one.

You can then thicken your single surface.

Good luck!

Good evening

Thank you very much for your help.

I read the tutorial and so I started again by doing the maneuver in a similar way. So I made a half shell again this time. and I also made a sewn surface on all my sides...

Unfortunately, I still get an error message...

Do you see a problem?

Many thanks

Hello

I'm using an older version of solidworks because I still run on XP...

Can you save it in IGS so that I can open it and see what's wrong please?

Hello

here are the IGS files. I put the whole hull and the half that I redone.

thank you in advance

and the half-year-old...

Well then I think there must be a problem with the seam of your surfaces (one so small that you haven't seen it) because when I load the igs there are no problems (so the envelope is well made) and I can put a thickness on your half piece

For the whole piece, I recovered an invalid surface (see attached image)

If you don't need to make a profile edit later, you can start from your igs to make your case

If you see blue lines, it's because there's a surface discontinuity

So visualize your entire surface and try to join the said surfaces via the appropriate tools

what's your SW version and post it

Good evening

I just managed to get black lines on all the surfaces but the ends of half of the hull are still blue. Is that why I still can't get thicker?

Do you think that the surface is a good solution? I just tried in volume but I can't do the boss/smooth bottom of the central part. too much spline?

Always a big thank you in advance.

and I'm on the 2014-2015 version of solidworks (student)

Can you close your surface and fill it?

@+

thus?

again blue impossible to remove :/

Now take the tab for a sectional view to see if the body is full or hollow?

if the body is full ok it's winning

take the blue line that should correspond to the hole and convert it into a sketch to make an elevation of material

Once this removal of material has been done

it is enough on the last surface to create to make a shell function since it is a solid it should work the thickness of the shell will depend on the radii created in surface

Hello

I think it will be less of a problem in volume and not on surface, for smoothing, there are a lot of tutorials on the internet:
