Hello
Would there be a possibility to assign a custom property (thickness) on a custom material?
Let me explain,
We have a multitude of Lexan polycarbonnate headbands with one thickness (supplier A), we have another (supplier B) who makes us some in polyester with another thickness.
When I update the material (depending on the supplier who has the contract) in my personal properties of the part, I would like the thickness of the part to follow.
Also so that the plans I send out for prospecting have the right material with the right thickness.
Thank you for your help.
Hello I think that by custom properties it is not possible, why not create a configuration per part according to the thickness by supplier

Hello
Why not create standard parts with material and thickness (in a library) by supplier? That way, depending on the supplier, you already have the part set up with the thickness and the material.

Hello
You have two options in the myCADtools tools:
The SelectMaterials tool, which allows you to assign a material and copy the properties you create in the materials into the document properties
The SmartProperties tool which has the property type of selecting a material, which assigns the material and copies the properties of the material to the document.
Then, if you have a property that defines the thickness in your material, you can use it in the equations to define the thickness of your part.

Hi all
Thank you for your contributions,
- I already use the configurations a lot to customize the odds,,... and also the material for other types of mechanical parts.
- To create hops, triplets,... of parts will complicate my organizational and work tasks in our context.
I am looking for an alternative to these solutions to easily find the supplier/material/thickness trio without having to open the existing parts to find the information.
- I just launched SelectMaterials, but I couldn't find any other functions than the basic editor, and I don't see how to use the existing customize tab.
Thank you for showing me the possibility of putting the material selection in smartproperties, it can be useful to me.
But I don't understand "Then if you have a property that defines the thickness in your material, you can use it in the equations to define the thickness of your part." since I can't put the thickness in the customize tab of the material editor.
Looking forward to your thoughts,
