Sketch equation impossible to validate

Hello

I find myself faced with a problem when, in a sketch, I want to make an equation of one dimension in relation to another ( ex = "D1@Esquisse1"/2) ) it does not want to be validated.

As the attached photo shows, I have the blue color code that is displayed after entering " = " then selecting my score of 100 but I can't validate

Thank you in advance for your answers

Kind regards

If you next D2 must be half of D1, why not put as a constraint an equality between your 2 blue segements?

Fred's answer is perfectly valid and faster but let's try to solve your problem.

When you say you can't validate:

- How do you try to validate?

- What happens when you try?

Have you restarted SolidWorks and your computer (Often work miracles...)

It's just a simple example Frédéric but thank you for your answer

When you select but two reference line of the dimension, my dialog box opens to enter my desired dimension. So I do = then select my dimension of 100 then I type " / " and 2 (for the example) then when I press Enter or I click on the green validate of this dialog box, nothing happens and my dialog box remains open as if the button was disabled. When I enter a normal dimension without doing an equation, I can simply validate.

This is simply because you can't enter an equation directly into the dimension area.

You have to create an equation with the equation editor and then assign the result to your rating.

Hello

If you leave the sketch and do it outside??? Can you put the outline in the post???

Pascal, I just did it at home in the sketch and it works well... SW2016

I do the same operation on my colleague's workstation and it works perfectly.

Here is the sketch as asking but I don't think it brings you much

test_esquisse_equation.sldprt

In this case, try to save your profile and then load your colleague's profile to see if it changes anything and if it does, it comes from the wrong options.

I took a sketch where my colleague had made equations and I can modify them and it works perfectly (I just added "+1" to the end of the formula and it's automatically calculated and I was able to validate) I looked in the options but I can't find anything about it

Here's how to load a profile.

Save yours just in case and load your colleague's on yours to see if that solves your problem.

it takes 2 minutes in all

I saved my colleague's settings from his PC, then I restored the settings on my pc (I saved my settings to go back just in case). No improvement except for the display which is getting bigger, I tried to make an equation but it still doesn't want to validate.

have you tried again by restarting Solidworks or the PC sometimes it bugs and we don't know why and if the problem persists try a repair of Solidworks!!

ac cobra 427 : I just tried it and it also works in 2014. Sorry, I was left with an old idea that we couldn't do it. So I just learned something very practical, thank you!

Restart the PC or Solidworks already done many times, I will soon have the SP5 update, hoping that the problem will be solved otherwise I uninstall and reinstall Solidworks I think.

Thank you for your help

Hello

Have you tried a repair of Solidwoks??? Control panel ==> programs ==> programs and features ==> right click on Solidwoks then modify and repair the individual installation but before doing it remember to save your settings for the remeters

Waiting for SP5 update to see if the problem resolves.

Thank you for your answers.
