Hello
Which version of SP were you on in 2024?
If it was a version before SP5.0 it may have been more or less buggy in some aspects.
Personally I wouldn't work on an Sp3.0
Hello
Which version of SP were you on in 2024?
If it was a version before SP5.0 it may have been more or less buggy in some aspects.
Personally I wouldn't work on an Sp3.0
It was the last version of the 2004. In addition, I had installed a hotfix recommended by the hotline but it didn't change anything.
In general I also wait for the sp4 mini but here, as I was changing pc I didn't have much choice. That said, the sp3 2025 works very well, I have only encountered one small bug so far on the drawings concerning the surface finishes, on the dialog box, unless the standards have changed.
For the odd and even versions, never heard of the odd ones being better.
By the way, the worst version I've heard was the buggest 2015 of all time!
And for my 2014-2018-2020-2023 history and the worst is probably the 2023!
And now even the Sps don't mean much anymore apparently, since it's only about fixes like before but sometimes also about adding features (and bugs!).
Not too much of a deal for the 2023SP5! But hey, everyone has their own experience
I was talking about SP05 @Le_Bidule (for all versions).
But I think it also comes from our PCs which are very limited for the 2023. (and more and more important assemblies...)
But for me the 2020 SP05 was much more stable but slower.
And as I say it opens faster with the 2023, but it also crashes faster!
yes There are two separate teams for the development of SW (according to hotline). The ones in the odd version seem much better to me
I've been using SW since the 1997 version and I've noticed it many times.
Pretty much agree, 2024 was a nightmare compared to 2023
For my part, I always ask for the opinion at the hotline and also on the forum before changing the version to sp05 systematically.
And if the non-functional version (or not very functional) we stay 2-3 years on the same one.
For the developers, I think that since time the good ones of the odd versions have also left the ship!
Damn it, we have to change the version (thanks win 11... )
So we have the choice between 2024 Sp5.0 and 2025 Sp5.0 (when it will be released).
I was leaning more towards the 2024 (as we are not immune to the fact that the 2025 sp5 is not well bugged and little feedback on this version at the moment).
What are the main concerns of V2024?
When I see that @sbadenis says that SW2020 Sp5.0 (our current version that I find ultra buggy) is more stable than 2023 I'm afraid...
Hello
Stability can come from workstations, from the various Windows or Office updates which does not help the stability of SW when the upgrade is done after installing it.
For my part SW2024 SP5.0 since February 2025, no big problems identified. Drawings are always the weak link in SW so I don't dwell on potential bugs that are not blocking our use.
SW crashes are still less frequent (there are still cases where it crashes without really understanding why but it's still quite uncommon in our country).
I still prefer to migrate every year to an n-1 version (2024 in 2025, 2025 in 2026...) so as not to pay for maintenance at a loss and to be able to use the hotline. Not to mention the risk of instability of some models during a too big version jump (the worst we had in our memory is SW2009 to SW2014 and a little bit of breakage in the files).
Personally I find the 2025 sp3 very stable, I hardly encounter any more crashes without warning as it often happened to me with the 2024 version. And again, it's often my fault to want to go too fast sometimes. You also have to be very careful with certain constraints in the assemblies.
That said, I think the processor of my new machine has a lot to do with it.
