Is there any free software to convert CAD files?

Hello

Is there any free software that can convert Inventor CAD files to .u3d and/or .prc?

This is in order to create a 3D pdf.

I have Adobe Arobat x Pro which allows me to do this but only by inserting .u3d or .prc files.

Waiting for a response

Thank you

Don't have any CAD software? SOlidworks or other?

Hi Vortex69

See these links among others for the conversion of CAD files completely free of charge

Hello

The answer was given on Lynkoa:

http://www.lynkoa.com/forum/autodesk-inventor/pdf-3d-inventor-2010

Just save in IGES and Acrobat can open it directly!

Otherwise, in SolidWorks, you have to save as, and check the 3D PDF option (from memory).

I found a conversion software that works on Android (not tested):

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.om3DCAD

3D CAD application & CAD conversion tool.
Supported data formats:
-STEP (*.stp, *.step)
-IGES (*.igs, *.iges)
-STL
-OBJ

@ David

A FREE inventor/.u3d or .prc converter

He can have it to test via Felix on the site but it's not what we can say really FREE

Thank you for all your answers

To answer everyone:

- I'm just an inventor in a company

- Adobe acrobat pro asks me for .u3d or .prc, IGES files don't work, I tested.

I'm going to try the different software you tell me about and I'll tell you if it works or not

Thank you

According to this forum:

They recommend using Inventor Publisher (paid but a trial version is available):

I have already tried this solution but adobe acrobat 3D does not work because I have a larger version of adobe.

@ Lucas P

It's on Inventor Publisher could do it but I'm afraid my manager doesn't want to.

cross manager having been refused

Thank you anyway

To relay the first proposals of @Bart and @Tomalam:

From Inventor you can't save directly as a 3D PDF?

Because SolidWorks allows, when selecting the PDF format during a "Save As", to choose the 3D PDF option.

No, since inventor, it is impossible to "save as" in 3D PDF.

I know SW does it but we don't want to install 2 CAD software. moreover to go from inventor to SW you have to do step, and you lose all the constraints. It's also long and painful to switch from one CAD software to another just to make PDF.

Hello

With the Space claim software you can read inventor files and export them as pdfs.

See example attached pdf file.

I think that should meet the need.

If the attached file is meaningful please contact me for more info about Space Claim.

We agree that you are not going to change your software for that! It was just to guide the search for solutions! It's a shame that all CAD software doesn't offer, as a base, this possibility of saving in 3D PDF!

I can't read the pdf file.

Are you sure it can export to 3D pdf??

@ Benoit.LF

I agree that it's stupid that not all software has the option like SW.

@Vortex69 : you have to download the PDF and open it in Acrobat Reader, at home by default it opens it with Chrome and it doesn't work indeed.

It is indeed a 3D PDF.

By opening it in Adobe Reader I can manipulate it.
