SmarTeam Replacement Experience: Who, What, How?

Hello everyone!

While we were preparing for an upgrade of the SolidWorks SmarTeam couple to their 2026 version for a production release on January 1, 2027, we are facing the discontinuation of SmarTeam in its 32-bit version: The latest version available is 2025 SP3.
(we hadn't read the very small lines between the small lines that announced the end of the 32-bit version in 2026... :expressionless:)

According to my colleague from IT, it is not possible to switch to the 64-bit version: the impact on the customization scripts would be considerable, it is almost like putting everything on the ground and starting again. We might as well change the solution... Which is planned, but not for now.

So the question I ask: Who on the forum has experienced a SmarTeam migration to another PDM/PLM solution?
I would very much like feedback:

  • Which software solution should I choose?
  • How long did the project last?
  • What difficulties/problems encountered (they can be very different depending on the implementation/use of SmarTeam, and the replacement solution chosen)

I know for example that CERN has replaced SmarTeam with ARAS:
The two solutions coexisted for a while from what I understood, a GuidLine was defined so that users were responsible for migrating their data. After the deadline, shut down from SmarTeam, tampi for you if you didn't get the data you needed!

Hoping to have as much feedback as possible, thank you in advance to you, ex-SmarTeam users, for the information you would like to share!

Hello Silver_Surfer,
Well in my former life as a BE I knew "Smarteam" well which was replaced by " @udros ", which is still normally married to Solidworks.
I'll check it, and I confirm it to you...
Well, neither of them is relevant nowadays.
I found this one=>https://www.aletiq.com/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23340966225&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIu46z87OBkwMVeUFBAh3MUDH2EAAYASAAEgJbjfD_BwE
But I don't know, just by name...
Good luck.

Thank you @A_R ,

I know them and I've already talked to them. Their solution progressed very quickly. Unfortunately, it was decided not to retain SAAS-only solutions.
The Audros solution was acquired in 2018 by Visiativ to become Visiativ PLM.

Same for us, they go forcing, I don't like it...
@udros was acquired by Assetium=>https://www.machine-outil.com/actualites/t559/a3946-assetium-reprend-l-activite-udros-de-la-societe-innocad-filiale-d-access-commerce.html
and Smarteam by the 3d experience=>https://www.visiativ.com/actualites/actualites/plm-6-raisons-dadopter-le-product-lifecycle-management/

That's it, here is between the two I preferred @udros...
But hey, for the moment we don't have PLM with our structure...
