Export parts of an assembly separately to STEP in SolidWorks

Hi all

 

It is possible to export an assembly of several parts in STEP format. But can we export from an assembly of several parts in STEP so that we have each separate part in STEP format and not a global STEP.

Isn't it more advantageous to have only one file to send knowing that the software that will retrieve the step will manage to recreate the x parts files by itself?

 

Unless the problem comes from precisely that the software you sent to does not recreate the x parts. Is that it?

Indeed, the backup in STEP does not allow you to export the separate components.

On the other hand, if you can export in IGES, then it is possible to save the components of the assembly in separate files.

each piece must be sent separately as well as the assembly

 

to be able to  treat the subject correctly

 

there are APIs to do it in auto (at night depending on the size of the rooms and the number of files)

Personally, it works for me.

When I save my assembly, it is also cut in STEP.

In fact it's for archiving. When I place a future order for a part to be manufactured, I only send the subcontractor the step of the part and not the complete assembly. I could do it one by one, but now I have an assembly of 45 parts. Hence my question of being able to do the steps separately in one operation.

I had a little suspicion of why you asked this question.

 

Apart from the possibility in IGES, for WWTP it is impossible.

 

You'll have to resolve to record them one by one!

@gt22 yes, when I open my share, I have a share!

Moreover, when I open my part, it doesn't go looking for it since it only exists in the STEP format and is not in my space.

 

On the other hand I'm on Creo so it can be a little different....
