Making site plans on Solidworks

Hello

I want to create layout plans easily in Solidworks.

I have a set of several machines and I have to make a layout plan for all these machines.

I have my huge 3D SolidWorks assembly of this machine park but to create a simple layout plan is a hassle!

If I do a top-down shot, it takes all the details of my machines, which makes the plan unpleasant to read and it's quickly a mess. I would only need the clutter lines of each machine actually.

I had previously tried to do this via sketches, extruded sets, etc... It worked well the first time. I had taken care to save the whole. But today, after updating this machine park and moving some elements, my sketch has become a real mess...

Would there be a simple and effective solution for creating layout plans on SolidWorks?

Hello

Switch your machine assemblies to SpeedPack mode and keep only the support faces and the faces used to dimension your plans.

If you are in SW 2014 or 2015, in the Speed Pack options you can make sure that it is not hidden that you approach the mouse.

For more info on this mode, look at the online help or the tutorial.

Thanks, but is it possible to see these assemblies lightened on a drawing?

I managed to make a speedpack but when I sent it to the drawing, it doesn't change anything...

How does it change anything?

Are you sure that your overall set uses the speedpack version of your sub-assemblies?

To check it, right-click on the subset to see if it can switch from parent to speedpack or from speedpack to parent. You can even do this on the set of heads to switch everything from one mode to another.

Take a screenshot of the tree of your assembly, we can see immediately if you are in speedpack or not (icon that changes as for the light mode).

Do you have an image illustrating your words?

I think that if it's just for an implatation, no need to see each nut, right?

No, indeed, no need to represent the details, I just need "squares" representing the different elements.
