Hello
I am creating this topic because after several hours of research I can't find a solution to my problem.
I have changed many of the names and paths of various parts in my Windows Explorer and when opening my general assembly SolidWorks does not open the "unable to find the file..." " in order to find my pieces.
In the SolidWorks options, "messages/error/warning" I have already checked all the boxes for ignored messages.
In my assembly, on a part that was deleted because the path could not be found, I cannot undo the deletion of the path. Nothing happens when I click (left) on cancel delete.
How do I make this window appear or how do I find the path to a room?
Thank you
Solidworks 2020 SP1.0
I think the message appears or not depending on the method of opening the file: double click in Windows Explorer, drag'n drop from the explorer window in the SW window or file/open in SW.
If you really don't want to, you can "replace" (right-click, replace, you may have to expand the menu...) the missing component with the file with the new name.

Hello, thank you for your answer.
I've tried the two different ways to open my assembly and it doesn't change anything.
For the replace function, I have a good hundred parts (for which I only changed the path) so I was hoping to find an automatic search function...
SW doesn't like to go up in file trees.
Another way to give it the path is to open a file of the new location(s) and then open the assembly.

Hello @contact_431
Happy to welcome you to the forum.
I hope we can help you solve a few problems.
For a very long time I have given up using Windows Explorer to change file names because it is a notable subject of annoyance.
Indeed, the paths internal to SW are more sophisticated than those managed by Windows. SW creates a whole bunch of links to work given the complexity of such software.
Only one rule do everything in SW which is not so bad to change the name directly in the knowledge tree.
Personally, in order not to be annoyed, I create a copy of the file with a new name in SW and I use the replace function of SW. Then I put the old file in a trash file that I keep for a while.
For your problem it's normal
since the link has been broken.
The only way to put the right part back into the asm and put all the constraints back. I hope you haven't made too many edits like this.
In the tree you must have a good number of constraints in red (a real Christmas tree).
If you make automatic backups and the changes are recent, you should be able to recover the old version before renaming. But now it's a guaranteed nervous breakdown.
Maybe one or two of our " super hot colleagues" may tell you how to do it in the registry! Personally, I don't know how to do it.
Good luck
Kind regards

Thank you for your answers, it will surely end up in step-by-step work by opening the parts before the assemblies.
As for the constraints it could be worse, I use them very little in my large assemblies, many of my parts are simply placed in space.
