Following a change of computer, my part and drawing files are no longer linked. if I edit the part the drawing follows but I can no longer call it by File/Create Drawing.
I may have missed something in the transfer of files
It must be done in an orderly and methodical manner.
Look at how the files were stored on the old hard drive or in the backup drive.
Check that the files in the new computer will be stored in the same tree structure (strictly, same name, same structure.)
Open the room and then try to request a new MEP, Solid will tell you that this file already exists (if the trees are the same as originally.
If it doesn't work, do "save as" without validating to see or SW tries to do the backup (and if it corresponds to the tree structure of the old computer.)
Otherwise open the MEP in a second time and look by "saving as" what SW proposes as a backup place.
That's it to start with, but it probably corresponds to what you have done: but double-check because the devil is always in the details.
To solve the problem that needs to be understood, this is how SW index, or more accurately, does not index files. Also, it should be noted that in standard SW there is no database in the sense of a DBMS, which means no downward and upward indexing. Put it another way and in perhaps simpler terms ;-)
The parent does not memorize the bond with the children.
On the other hand, children memorize the path that connects them to their parents.
However, if you ask for a MEP of a room, so starting from the part. You do this from an open room or a room that is not loaded. In either case, it is mandatory to indicate the room to with the "browse" function. The browse function is nothing more or less than the path of the plane child to the parent piece.
You will notice that SW does not propose a path, but however, if the child or the DRW is in the same tree, it will tell you that this plan already exists. If you are in another tree (which is probably your case) and well "rusk it is lost in the apples". So not to sound too stupid he suggests you "browse").
What's troublesome in your case is that if you have a lot of assemblies that include a lot of parts; You may have to reconstruct the paths with a mano, if you haven't memorized the tree structure somewhere before changing the computer.
