Solidworks does not know how to count the number of parts other than in a BOM. In a detailed drawing of parts, how can he know where that part is being used?
It is possible to put a text-type Quantity property and fill it in manually, which is often done. (account to be made by hand or thanks to a nomenclature) Or else in a more complicated way to fill in the quantity property with a nomenclature extracted in excel for example, and to export the plan with the quantity filled by fetching it thanks to a Visiativ software (Integration) or to find a macro that does it.
I agree with @sbadenis , the Quantity Property available in the Solidworks list is worse than a fake z'amis... This variable does give a value but: Is it manually written in the assembly (the one at the head? The sub-assembly of the MEP? … no way to know). We only rely on the BOM quantities for our Assembly Drawings, and on the Part Drawings, we "Manually" report the total quantities in the MEP BOM. (I put quotation marks because I created a macro to re-count my parts in a specific assembly and check the quantity entered in our MEPs...)
@Zozo_mp : Am I wrong where you now have the Mycad tools? In this case, look at the SmartBom utility: To edit a complete BOM of an assembly in Excel format. There remains the problem inherent in Assembly Updates Vs Excel... There is always a risk.
So to summarize my opinion: Don't use the "Quantity" property but rely on the Assembly BOMs + manual intervention on BOMs of parts MEPs.
Kind regards.
By the way@Zozo_mp are your Solidworks installation problems solved? (If so, remember to save your settings in an External -*.sldreg file)
Hello @sbadenis Thank you bcp for your answer in a very short time
I suspected a little of the impossibility, but as all these parts are attached to a single ASM, I thought, very naively, that there was a link in the ASM without to PArt.
