Basemap

Hello

I wanted to know if there is a way to duplicate/copy an mep to have a different background map (e.g. client cartridge), but keeping the fact that the changes made on the mep 1 are transferred to the others.

For the moment, I'm doing my mep and then copying and reloading the background plan which is fine afterwards. So if a change is made on one mep, I also have to transfer it to the other mep.

I think there was a similar discussion on the forum but I can't find it.

Good night.

Good evening I think it should be possible by doing a macro

Hello

If I understand correctly,

For example, you have a drawing with a background plan named "A4 Landscape"

(which contains a precise title block for which you have established the rules), and you want to change the background to "A4 Portrait" for example?

If all your basemaps have been made beforehand, why not simply right-click on

the sheet you want to edit, and click Property.

See attached image.

Afterwards, to go further,

As I often have to do this operation, I made a macro by recording the manipulation I did to change my background. (see previous post)

@bart: I don't change the format of the MEP. But some data from the cartridge.

For example: having a custom basemap for a client. So I have a plan for suppliers with a title block that doesn't show the name of the customer (initial plan) on the other side, a customer plan:  copy of the initial plan except at the cartridge level.

Hello

For me the best solution would be to create a new folio that points to the second template.

The result is the first folio template of his company and the second folio of the client.

No worries about updating the document because everything is done on the same file.

There is only one Mep file to manage and therefore less worries ;o).

My change in size was an example, it works if you change your background from "A4 Customer Portrait"  FOR EXAMPLE to "A4 Supplier Portrait"

Personally that's what I do at home

Hello

From memory, this question has already been answered on the forum.

It was a question of playing with the layers in order to show/hide the information according to the customers.

A client layer A, a client slap B, etc...

Good luck

PS: Something REALLY needs to be done about this unusable search tool.

Hello

I agree with @Jose-accessa, it avoids duplication of error-prone content

Layers can be useful for this

Hello

Here is a similar question about Lynkoa that is resolved:

Hello

I did a little test, and this is the result. I just made a copy and paste of my background from one layer to another. In your application, you can make 2 different cartridges with the values (retrieved from the 3D) you want, just switch from one layer to another.

Hello

I have a bit of the same problem, but in a different way I create the first drawing with my cartridge, I save and then I change the property of the sheet (client cartridge) and save the file under another name.

Advantage the evolutions on the two file follows the part,

Disadvantage these are 2 separate files.

I would have liked to be able to do the same thing but in the same file and using Sheet 1, Sheet 2 etc.

Opens up a new question, right? It's better for readability!

Good evening

First of all, thank you for your answers.

@mathieu anger: Probably, but I'll have to follow all the tutorials first...

@ s.leitao: your solution of having 2 sheets is what I'm currently doing (mep 1 company, then copy/paste on a new sheet, then change the background plan on the second sheet). But when there is a change on one of the sheets of the annotation style or even evolution of the part/assembly, you have to import the new dimensions on both planes. I find myself having to copy these changes, being careful not to forget any.

But perhaps in the copy of the sheet there is a way to tell him to follow all the evolutions of the first sheet.

@lucas.Prieur: Thank you for finding the link. You will have to explain to me the method to find similar questions... I rarely succeed.

@jose-accessa, jfaradon, lucas: I hadn't thought of the layer move for the background. But then when you generate the pdf (or other format. with batchconverter or other), is there a way to output the same shot by asking it to modify a layer each time? and also to change the name of the plan at the same time otherwise it will be overwritten by the next one.

Hello

With BatchConverter it is possible to create a file for each sheet:

For plans, add the sheet name rather than the index in the name of the exported files:

This option is related to the choices made in the menu settings:

  • "Drawing DXF" : Multi-sheet drawing. Export all sheets in separate files.
  • "PDF" : Create one file per sheet.

On the other hand, to modify the layer to create a file per layer, you will have to go through a VB macro!

The simplest solution (by macro or by hand) is as follows:

When the drawing is finished, copy the drawing to a second sheet and activate the second layer on it.

Start printing (by a macro or BatchConverter) all the sheets in the document.

For the macro, I advise you to download my example step by step to start with:

Then some examples for layer management:

Hello

Personally, given how quick it is to change a layer, I wouldn't bother trying to automate all this.

@Jose-accessa : it's sure that if he did it by hand and he doesn't need to do it on a lot of old plans, it's easier manually.
