Format STL

Hello

Can we retrieve an STL format and transform it into a document or IGES format to modify it?

Thank you

The answer is yes

you just need to have feature Works according to your version of solidworks

or recreate the surface and fill or thicken as appropriate

the 2nd version is longer ;-)

Your attached file must have a blem, I can't open it, at least it looks like there's nothing in it

it's okay I got it back I was forced to record in STL at the beginning

I'm in the process of converting it via Feature Works

as soon as it's done I'll pass the file to you if the file is okay ?............ ;-)

Hello

No @gt22, featureworks does not allow you to create a part from an STL! FEatureWorks is made to create SOLIDWORKS functions on bodies that bite STEP, XMT, IGES, ....

To do this, you need Scanto3D, available in SOLIDWORKS PRO since 2016.

Otherwise, if you are in 2017 and you activate 3DInterconnect, you get your STL directly in volume parts with facetization of course.

He doesn't offer me Featurework with this piece.

You can replay an STL file with standard SW

Choose the STL format from the list of formats and in the options, choose "Volume"

You get an imported body

See attached image

Regarding the modifications, the STL format being a triangulated format it will be very complicated to make modifications and the model will always remain a triangulated model
