Hello
I don't remember what is the function that allows you to transform an assembly into an empty part (shell) to integrate it into large assemblies for 3D implementation.
Thank you

Hello, a sldprt with an external side option does what you ask.
The "defeature" function, and the "speed pack" configuration can be useful
(With advantages and disadvantages!)
Hello;
If you want Volume, the option to convert (save as) an assembly into a part while keeping only the external bodies has disappeared on the 2020 version.
Lynk's proposals remain, but an assembly saved in Surface may be heavier to handle than volume.
Otherwise, if you are adventurous, you can look at the new options for recording from an SLDASM to an SLDPRT, but these are no longer based on the "external visibility" of the bodies to be kept but rather on their geometries...
Access to these settings is possible directly from the general options of Solidworks or directly in the backup window (Save as + choice of document type).
Kind regards
