Cylindrical surface hatching, possible?

Hello

I have a knurled piece that I have to draw. In order not to model the 3D of the knurling, my idea was to create a type of hatching similar to the standardized one, but unfortunately now that I want to apply hatching on my surface, the error, the face or its orientation makes it unsuitable for projection, appears.

I concluded that solidworks could only hatch plans, and moreover // to the drawing.

So if you know a trick to hatch a cylindrical surface or to easily represent a knurling, I'm interested :D

Thank you, we look forward to exchanging with you.

Hello

From SW 2019 it is possible to do a mapping (paste an image as texture  = Mesh data) on any freeform surface.

Kind regards

Thank you :D

It's interesting, but I'm trying not to model it in 3D my knurling, I put an image as an example, the blue arrow indicates the pattern I created that I put on a surface where it works and the red one the cylindrical surface where it's impossible to add the hatching.

It would seem so much easier and less cumbersome to me to simply be able to modify only the drawings to represent this kind of machining.

Kind regards.

Hello

If you create a rectangle that goes over your contours of your hatching area, you should then be able to put your hatching in this closed profile.

Kind regards
