Prohibit Access to the basemap

Hello

I want to prohibit access to the basemap to certain users.

Is there an existing trick for that?

Kind regards

Good question, I think it's not possible, but maybe with a PDM??

Hello

Not to my knowledge....

This is possible with a PDM, by modifying the access rights of users.

Without PDM, no idea but it would surprise me since anyone working on a plan should be able to modify it whenever they want...

Good luck

I think by creating a validate option

As long as your basemap is not validated you can't save it with the same ref..........

Configure basemaps with a Save plans checkbox

Hello

If the template of the plan is stored in an "admin" or protected folder of the PDM, then I think that modifying the background plan is impossible.

Hello

Yes, to prohibit access, if it is on the network, it is enough to have two network locations, one of which is only accessible to certain users.

No other solutions to my knowledge!

Yes I agree with Lucas, for my part 2 locations are not necessarily mandatory, you just have to change the "security" option of the folder in which your file is located, well the "modification", "play" options... To see with your IT specialist and if it works.

@Tomalan and @Lucas Prieur: except that the user who uses the template to make his drawings always has access to the basemap...

Your solution is valid only so that no one touches the template, but that doesn't prevent him from modifying the background of a drawing he is creating.

Hello

@Coyote: Yes, you're right on that point

But when trying to modify the basemap, won't the user be warned of the protected state of the latter? (while being able to modify it indeed)

And the modification of the basemap cannot be saved.

I'm currently no longer on SW so I can't check

What you mean by "prohibit access to the basemap" is just to prevent their modifications so that no one makes a mistake or is it to prevent someone from being able to change the basemap in a solidworks drawing?

@fthomas: I just want to prevent the modification of the basemap to avoid mistakes!!

So as said before collegially, we can lock the "template" but once the drawing is created, we can't lock the basemap as such. Any SolidWorks user can "edit the basemap" and modify it.

One way out, BUT which may pose problems more than provide solutions, would be to automatically reload the basemap before sending it to production. There must be a MyCAD tool for that (INTEGRATION I think). And the one who changed his background, tampis for his apple... with the problems that this can cause later...

There is no solution!!
