No, I don't use the Vault.
On the other hand, in the meantime, I have found a "solution".
I register the chassis under the new name. Then I close it, I move the "frame" folder out of the project and reopen my new chassis and there it asks me for the paths for the frame and the skeleton, and that's it.
Probably not very clean for pro inventors but hey it works....
If you have a better solution, I'm all for it.
On the other hand, a new problem has appeared, the 3D sketch modification but I think I'll open a new post.

The right method (without Vault) seems to be to save under a new name and move the old folder out of the project, while the new chassis is opened.
It seems to me that there was an add-on called icopy which allowed you to make design copy a bit like in Vault but for those who don't have it...
I have never used it but tried to look in that direction;)

icopy works great
but save it under another name too on the other hand you have to close it otherwise there is a risk of modifying the ipt file
