"iPart" Inventor -> What does Solidworks offer?

Hi all!

An Inventor iCoin is a library part with many customizable parameters that can be controlled from Excel for example. These properties allow you to display or not a function, to manage the colors of the parts, their names, etc.

Do you have any links explaining how this type of part works on Solidworks?

Thank you!

Aurélien

Everything is managed by "configuration"

The idea is that when you create a configuration, everything you do in it doesn't impact the other configurations in your room.

Good talk of the links (don't hesitate to come back and ask case questions so that we can answer them in a little more detail)

Hello

More powerful than configurations, the families of parts allow you to manage configurations by Excel table, much more practical, see these tutorials:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGZTv99R4hE

http://www.lynkoa.com/store/fr/tutos-formations/tutos/thematiques-avancees-les-familles-de-pieces-dans-solidworks.html

Edit, complement to start a family of room of my other answer:

The easiest way to have a clean file for a part family is to create 2 configurations and modify in one of them a dimension (choosing only for this configuration in the dialogic box: the small yellow cubes) and a custom property (in the tab specific to the configuration), then to create its part family automatically. We have a very good, clean base. to start.

Oh, how great you all are!

I'll study all this :)!

How do you decide between the best answer in these cases? (a battle?)

@GT22, it's the same Youtube link I posted!

@coin37coin, a tutorial is much more meaningful than the help of SolidWorks in general!

Hi Aurélien,

I will not participate in the war on points. As is often the case on Lynkoa, the solution is collective.

If you want to have examples of parts with families of parts that manage the dimensions, the properties. I can send you some by PM.

Regards.

Muhaha for the battle. It's an interesting concept.

You can put .PL, just like the points race doesn't interest me too much. And then he put the dictatial (which is actually more user-friendly ^^)

Nice technique to get started. I'll have to think about it next time. On the other hand, do you delete your config after where you leave it?

Logically if you have created a second config it means that you need it! So you might as well keep it, after if there are other changes to be made on this configuration, you can either make them in the Excel file, or in the 3D.
