The "description" field no longer appears when registering a part or assembly

Hello

I'd like to have some help, since this week's Windows update, we have a problem when registering our parts.

When performing a save, the "Description" field no longer appears under the "File Name" and "Type" fields.

Do you know how to make it reappear please?

Can you put a screenshot (to be attached otherwise it's almost unreadable)?

it may just be a Windows display setting that has been reset.

Below is the screenshot with the arrow where the description is missing.

Hello Pierre

It would not be by chance parts contained in the tools box because in this case there is an interaction with vaintdoze

Kind regards

EDIT: By any chance you wouldn't be in a multi-user environment (because in this case there may be restrictions depending on the actors). This would imply that this area is only accessible to certain people. See the data-manager in this case because someone could have made a modification concomitantly with the windows update

 Hello Zozo_mp ,

These are not toolbox parts.

No, my colleagues have the same problem too since the update. And the open rooms are on my local disk so no multi-users.

Bigre!  bigre!!   So here I'm drying up because I don't see the connection between windows and SW in this case on a purely solidworks function.

Because if SW uses WIndows routines you would have the problem on other features and you would not be the only one in the world.

I'm handing over sorry

There are at least 3 of us, with my colleagues^^.

Thank you anyway.

Hello

There are two of us, and we have the same problem.
I got the Windows update a week ago, and since then I've had the bug.
Yesterday my colleague had the update, and this morning, same problem.

These are new parts, and standard parts outside of toolbox or other.

If you have any news...

Not good news!  bad news

By the way! Which version of Windows

Hello

I'm guessing it's the Windows 10 update to version 1803 that's rolling out right now.

Have you tried a Solidworks repair?

Kind regards

Hello

I did a SW fix and got the description line for the records.

According to My CAD that I had on the phone, the Windows 10 update broke the links in SW and Windows.

By making a SW repair recreate them.

Kind regards

Hello

Following the SolidWorks SP3 update, the problem has been corrected.

Thank you, and have a good day

Ah ba if there is something useful in this update, what a bad tongue I do XD

The description of the sp3 was a bit poor for my taste for almost 1GB of data

Hello

I have the same problem, no more description, one of the solutions is to record under the part when you are in the assembly or in the drawing to prevent the description from disappearing but it's not very practical. I'm on windows 10 and I noticed that on windows 7, there is no problem (see image below). I'm on SolidWorks 2017 SP5.0 not possible for me to switch to 2018 SP3.
