Slow Edge Highlighting

Hello

When I hover my mouse over functions in the Featuremanager, the edges take a long time to show up in orange. Same when I remove the mouse

It's a crossover.

Dimensions: 1800x20x20

With fixing brackets.

In the end, two main functions and symmetry. Nothing too complicated. The sketch is in the default configuration, the functions in a derived configuration.  No other configurations.

In configuration

I have 32 GB, Xeon ES2620, windows 10, Soliworks 2018-2019 SP3, AMD FirePro W4100 2GB

It doesn't seem to me that there are any inconsistencies in the system configurations

Thank you for your help

Good evening

Your graphics card is certified so no worries on that side.

32 GB is more than enough.

On the other hand, I see that your file is from a student version.

Is your version also a student version???

Kind regards

Yes, it's a student version

But what is surprising is that it is quite recent, although the installation dates from December 2018.

Hello

Can you post your ASM using the PAck and go function.

I'll see if it screws up the souk at home.

Sometimes there are files that keep showing up but get corrupted. And in this case there is no rational explanation.

With the file we may be able to tell you more ;-)

Kind regards

Hello

You have to uncheck the dynamic highlight.

you go to: Option --> FeatureManager --> Dynamic Highlight

I resume my subject

I switched to the 2020 version and still the same problem.
Of course, I can disable the option but it is very practical.

What's crazy is that I had the same Education version on a laptop and it didn't.

The graphics card on the laptop is a

In addition, at the university, it forced us to change all our PCs because the students could not work efficiently. And this had to do without changing the solidworks version but probably following a windows update.

And in the end I think that the problem is mainly due to the drivers of the graphics cards or the interface between these cards and solidworks, or even to the OS which plays the role of intermediary. Because whether it's AMD or Intel, the phenomenon is repeated.

However, if we look at the processes, we see that during the entire phase of displaying the edges Solidworks is marked "No response". So either he has subcontracted to another process or he is the one who takes too much time.
Also, when you look at the display, it's not so much the highlighting that takes time, but the display between two lines. This seems to be exonerated on the display side and more involve the solidworks side

If you have any opinions I'm really interested

I'm modulating my previous post.

It's especially when I hover the mouse over a function in the featureManager.

It highlights all edges regardless of whether the "Dynamic Highlight" option is checked or not.

Hi all

I have exactly the same problem.
If I hover over a room or the creation tree, the highlight starts and is extremely slow.
AND it continues when you turn off dynamic highlighting.
This problem started with a bad SW2016/17 version and then I reinstalled a good version but the bug persists.
Any ideas to get rid of this thing?

Hi all
On my side it was the option "emulate OpenGl functions" in option>performance that is enabled, you have to uncheck it
(a new topic is better, an old topic doesn't encourage you to respond )

Hello;
Have you tried changing the state of graphics performance?

(From the System Options - Performance Tab... bottom)

Even if it's counterintuitive to uncheck it with an approved graphics card. By the way, is it up to date?.. does it need the Solidworks patch?

See: https://www.solidworks.com/fr/support/hardware-certification/

… Have you thought about uninstalling the old patch if you have changed versions of Solidworks, Windows, or Graphics Card?

Kind regards.

And also check that the driver is certified compatible with SW.
Some graphics card drivers that are too recent are not compatible and cause problems.
To do this, run Solidworks RX (then Diagnostics):
