What is the cleanest way to link dimensions between the different parts of an assembly?
Let me explain, if I draw an assembly composed of 2 parts: let's consider a floor and a wall. How do you do it as cleanly as possible so that the length and width have the same value for the floor and the wall?
I created a width and length equation by drawing the floor, but I can't find a way for these equations to be found in the assembly as well, and to be able to use them for the walls, the second piece of the assembly.
Is it possible to do that? Or is there a more appropriate method?
It may be a simple problem, but I can't find the solution on the net. Probably not the right search criteria.

The ideal would be for me for example to be able to create a series of equations in the assembly that I could reuse in the parts that make it up. I tried import/export equations but you always have to update the file so it's not practical.

To do it simply without equation it's simple, you create your floor room then your wall room and you make an assembly of your two parts then you can edit your dimensions in the assembly and you do = in the dimension and you click on the dimension to which you would like to link it. You double click on your part and your dimensions appear then you double click on the desired dimension, then once edited, you type = and you double-click on the other part and click on the dimension to link.

Another solution is to use part editing in the context of assembly, i.e. rather than driving your sketches by dimensions you can put sketch relations. In your example, you dimension your floor, then you edit your wall in the assembly and in the sketch of your wall you put a "Coincident" constraint with one of the elements of the floor. So when you change the dimension of your floor, the wall will automatically follow. On the other hand, it creates external relationships for you.

You also have several avenues to explore to follow your sizing:
- - Use equations in Excel tables (parts families)
- - Use the "Link value" function, in this case it is possible to modify one of the 2 dimensions (bidirectional)
- - Use macros to drive dimensions
- - Use global variables
