Hi everyone, I'm looking for a setting in SolidWorks to automatically adjust the length of the cut lines on my drawings. Currently, I have to manually stretch or shorten them on each view, which takes quite a bit of time. I couldn't find a global setting in the wrap or trim line options. Does anyone know if there is a setting to set this default length?
otherwise I'm going to make a little macro, like for a lot of other things where we have to manage ourselves
Hello corentinduguenez, For my part, I would add a dimension at each end of the cutting axis to the sketch of the part, then I will hide these dimensions, so that they do not appear in your MEP... I'll take a screenshot as soon as my pc is available. @+. AR.
I would still complete what you say @sbadenis ... It's automatic when the section is created. But if you modify your part / assembly afterwards, it doesn't follow!
As a result, there is no real solution. And I have to admit that the management of cuts is frankly irritating with Solidworks. Under Creo, for example, when you create your cuts, it's in 3D. As a result, all your placement relationships/dimensions don't appear in the 2D... and it's very cool
You can also put relationships in SW @coin37coin and if you rib, you can hide the rib to make it invisible as well. In general, I prefer not to side, except in rare cases where the cut must be in a specific place. And in this case I hide the coast. (right click hidden from memory)
Hello; There is also the possibility to use a 2D sketch line as a cutting base in the drawing view, this will give more latitude for the length (you can add relationships such as constraints and distances).
Indeed this is what I had noticed too even without in fact, it is not a potential update of the dimensions of the view for example.
Based on this fact, I was mainly looking for an option that defines how many mm exceeds the cut line in relation to the dimensions of the view. But in view of the answers and my research, it doesn't seem to exist natively
In fact, most of the time I reduce the lines to save space and be able to put my odds above (line A here vs line B by default)
In addition, the length that protrudes from the view also depends on the scale, visibly. If we change the scale, it is more or less more than that. So for me, as mentioned, this length is absolutely not configurable automatically.
