Hello I am asking for your help to simplify and automate part of my processing of STL files,
I work a lot with imported STL files, after importing, scaling, moving etc. I use the model with splines and arcs in 2D and 3D sketches to use the mechanically welded functions and make a dressing of the models.
I'd like to create a macro so that it transforms the lines/graphs displayed during import into sketches of splines or arcs I am attaching images to better contextualize the work.
I'm using Solidworks 2023 If there is an easier way, or a passage through another software to have an import of sketches I am interested Thank you
I can't imagine a macro opening an stl and choosing the most appropriate paths for splines itself. In my opinion, your request is a very important, and very, very particular development. (With very little chance of finding anything similar). Now you have to develop it yourself, good luck I don't really see how, or what to base it on. Or get in touch with a developer (like Visiativ or another dev specialist for SW) to design it or at least tell you if it's feasible and give you a possible quote. Anyway, I easily understand the need but the realization may be very difficult if not impossible.
Hello @Cyril.f I prefer to work with graphic bodies rather than mesh bodies (surface or volume) I have less bug and latency I tried using the "intersection curve" feature in a 3D sketch but I have random curves. Thank you for your answer
Thank you for your answer, I suspected that the development would be delicate, I don't think my employer is in favor of investing in such a development since it is a step in the work chain and not the product sold, It's an initiative on my part to facilitate/accelerate my work since I have deadlines that are difficult to meet.
Make a request to a dev for feasibility and cost, it costs nothing. Then if in 2 deals you have made the cost of dev profitable, offer the investment to your boss. If you tell him X euros of investment but so much time to earn in X business so investment amortized quickly and increased ease of work, I think he will see it differently. For my part, that's how I propose improvements that have a cost. And it works. Edit: Also tell him that the time you save with this investment you will spend it on other business so no more margin!
@sbadenis Is it possible to orient myself to contact one or more devs, honestly I don't know anything about ^^' or where to find them (specialized in Solidworks) Thank you
