Mastering FAO?

Good evening

I am a design engineer and I want to master the procedures and steps of  CAM. Is it easy to learn and master CAM and what are the main lines? And what are your tips and steps to continue? I want to master the MASTERCAM software. are there  any books or tutorials on CAM?

Hello

To master CAM, you must already have the basics of the different machining techniques.

Then there are a lot of things to know about the optimization of machining (direct methods, sweeping, island methods, etc.), which can only be done by trying according to the parts.

The production technician's guide is the basis to know, after which the tutorials follow.

Hello

CAM computer-aided manufacturing, that's all there is to it. The computer will assist you so for me (ex-machinist) the best training is to go and make chips to understand the world of machining. I know it's not easy, if you have a machine shop at home ask to go and spend time there, it's the best school because between the theory of tutorials  and reality there is a world. I don't want to scare you but in my opinion I don't think you can call yourself a machinist just by reading tutorials. Mastercam metering, yes, that's easy, but measuring a machining with all that it entails is much more  complicated.

May the force be with you

Doing F.A.O. is vague...

It all depends on the machines to be controlled, the technologies to be used and the software used =)

In any case, you will have to put your hands in the workshop to see how the machine will react and especially how the machined part will be.

Can you tell us more about it?
