Mechanically welded: sketch, profile, design library

Hello everyone, I am in boilermaking training and am starting to get started with solidworks 2019. I have a number of questions.

I'm currently designing several pieces of furniture and I'd like to use profile libraries.

- Concerning the square or rectangular tube, I have the impression that the leaves follow the rule: inner radius=thickness and outer radius=2 thickness. Can you confirm? or do the different suppliers have particularities

- I managed to create profiles from my sketches. by saving them as a lib feature. It works perfectly

- I came across a tutorial that went further by creating design libraries. In fact, to be able to set up my sketches and thus be able to have a whole family of pieces in my library. And that doesn't work. I think I have forgotten a subtlety. I'm in student version.

- Thank you all for your feedback, I'm continuing my research on my side but now I'm stuck.

For the int radius of the tubes, yes in general it's the rule. (a steel supplier had confirmed it to me)

On the other hand, this is not always true, had some variation from time to time. But in general, that's it.

For the tubes yes possibility to make a configurable tube in the form of a family of parts from several versions of soliworks (2016 from memory), here is an example for square tube. To be tested.

Hello

Yes, it is possible to create a part family in the design libraries.  See tutorial below.

For mechanical welding profiles, it is also possible to create a family of parts. Attached is a very detailed tutorial.

Hello, thank you both for your advice. Everything works on my side.

In fact I thought that by having a profile catalog, I could choose a profile with a given dimension, a mix between configurable and family of parts.

So, I created configurable profiles to be able to modify them at my convenience and very specific parts in the library to use them quickly in mechanically welded. I'm fine with it

Can you close the question if you have solved your problem?
