Having a bit of time at the beginning of the week, I want to know if the Solidworks 2016 to 2017 update is ripe or if we have to wait a bit. Do you have any advice

At the moment only the 2017 SP1.0 is available.
If I were you, I'd wait a little before doing the update. Personally, I only work on SP5.0
On the other hand, if you feel brave and motivated, don't be embarrassed! That way we'll already have feedback when we want to update:p

The SP schedule is as follows:
We are waiting for at least SP2 which should be released at the end of the month...

Personally I would wait a little too, at least until SP 3.0 to have a really mature version.
Of course it's tempting but you have to be patient ;-)

we are starting to work with the SP1 during the updates because it is to use the new functions as quickly as possible which still saves us time.

For my part, I asked our IT manager to update the 2017 update only when the SP5 is available... We struggled too much with the installation of solidworks 2016 in January (beginning with SP1).

I put in "production" (available for the whole BE) only from the SP3.0 version
On the other hand, I don't forbid myself to install a higher version on my workstation for testing.
For all the tests, you just have to be careful to make copies of the SW files so as not to rot the database.

I have stability issues (solid 2017 SP1) so it's better to wait a bit.
A priori the after-sales service has had a lot of feedback of problems and they are in the process of making the next fix.

after having big problems with Solid 2017 SP1, the SP2 version is finally stable phew !!
It's good to find a correct version.
