Solidworks drawing: color a single part of the assembly

Hello

I went around the net and I couldn't find an answer (maybe there isn't?).

Here's the dilemma: I have a drawing that serves as an assembly guide, and I would only like to put the "to be assembled" parts in my color stage so that they stand out well. So far, I've only managed to put color everywhere in the drawing view properties by putting "Edges in Shaded Image mode". I also know that you can change the colors of the edges but it's way too long and tedious.

Any idea?

If you color your parts in 3d

With plain textures for example.

In your drawing you will not have to put your view in shaded display style.

Your colors will be transcribed on the mep.

Hello

There is also the layer method that I use, you select in your sheet the part you want to color and then (after creating color layers) you select a layer.

The edges of your pieces will take on the color of the tracing paper.

Kind regards.

Thanks Bart, I'll try your solution and I'll keep you posted.

Fab camp, I knew this one but it's still long and complicated.

Hello, as @Fab camp says.

1-Choose the piece in the tree

2-Assign a layer

3-The piece changes color.

May the force be with you

I just tried Bart's method. The part to be displayed in color changes with each view, making this method impossible.

I'm going to apply the method of Fab camp and Master Obi-wan (may the force be with you too) while waiting for a better solution if it exists...

EDIT: The method is also impossible by changing the cache, it updates all the views!

Hello

There's something done on purpose for it. You have to create several display states in the assembly file. Here is a quick explanation attached that I hope will help you.

Have a nice day

If the pieces to be colored change with each view, the Obiwan method should be used

It's not very long with layers, once you have defined your layer colors, which will take you 2 or 3 minutes max for about ten colors, they remain saved, like your backgrounds or cartridges, you won't have to recreate them each time ...

And then I don't see how long it takes to click on the part and  select your layer... that's it...

Kind regards.

Indeed, it's not very long but the layer colors change in all the views and not in just one.

I found the solution thanks to Pierre Mihailovic!

In fact, I just have to check "Link display states to configurations" in the "Configurations" tab of the tree and define a configuration for each assembly step!
