Mechanically welded nomenclature / tube grouping

Hello,

I would like to group the tubes of the same length on the same lines to avoid duplicates in the end. Is this possible?
And how to sort this nomenclature as you want as if it were a standard nomenclature?

Thanks in advance

SW groups identical bodies, not identical lengths, so not possible basic.
If not the same cuts even if lg identical not the same marker so different line.
I don't know for what purpose to group but in general this nomenclature (list of welded parts) is used for the flow rates and it is necessary to identify the cutting angles in order to have an exact flow rate.

Hello,
To put it simply, for SW identical tubes have:

  • the same section
  • the same length
  • the same cutting angles
  • if applicable, the same holes
    So identical in every way!

To group together in order to have a flow list, there is CuttingOptimization from MyCADTools which does the job very well.

Have a nice day.

Hello,

The lengths and profile are the same so the bodies must be identical, right?

So I have to use MyCadtools to group? that I don't have^^

No, normally it's in the management of mechanically welded bodies. In your tree view.
They are not identical because they are different in length. So we have to gather them in the tree, in the folder of the bodies.

Not necessarily, see the remarks of @a_eriaud to have an identical tube.
You can very well have a tube of 30x30x2 Lg 500mm with 2 straight cuts and the same tube with a 45° cut (or 1 or more holes...)

I have already had the case of identical elements but of different length.

Hello,

This makes me think of a small detail, is the automatic update of the body list activated?
This could explain why identical bodies are not grouped together.

Another trick (be careful, it can be wobbly...), SW makes subfolders in the list of welded bodies to group identical bodies. You can move (drag and drop) a body from one folder to another. But this disables the automatic update, if it is reactivated all the manual sorting is cancelled and we have to redo everything...
I have already experimented this method on identical sheet metal bodies but very slightly different (a dimension that varied by 0.0001) following their import via a not very clean WWTP...

Another solution if the need is to have a reliable flow list:

  • make a part file with all the tubes without any drilling or other cutting, except for the corner cuts at the end of the tube
  • Make the debit list with this file
  • Include this file in an assembly and add all the cuts and drilling.

It remains to be seen which method/organization would be best suited to your designs...

In my opinion, this is the simplest solution, transferring from one file to another.
This I explained a little above. But your explanation is clearer
