Bill of Materials for Sub-Assembly

Hello, I would like to know if it is possible to create a BOM only for a subassembly of an assembly?

Thank you very much and have a good day to all!

Hello

In CREO, all you have to do is activate sub-assembly and the bill of materials is created according to it. Maybe the handling is different under SW but you never know!

Hello

Unfortunately, we have to exclude each of the assemblies and parts one by one, here is the method:

To exclude BOM assembly components:

  1. In the assembly document, right-click the component and select Component Properties.
  2. In the Component Properties dialog box, select Exclude from BOM, and then click OK

It may be very complicated.

I think I'm going to have to cheat and create a view outside of the drawing, create a BOM and then point my general view at that BOM to get the right numbering...

I could also create an SLDPRT of my main assembly, add the parts in question to an assembly with that SLDPRT, and exclude that SLDPRT from the bill of materials.

That way I only have one piece to exclude I think?

Otherwise you have to insert your underassembly outside your sheet, and insert the nomenclature related to this view.

Hello,

There are several ways to do this.

The 1st: in your 3D you right-click on the parts/assembly that you don't want to see in the nomenclature => property => exclude from the nomenclature.

Then you insert your nomenclature by showing only the parts. This way you will only see the parts of your sub-assembly.

The 2nd: As indicated by Bart (we crossed paths on this question) you insert your sub-assembly on your drawing and you link your nomenclature with it

On the other hand, you won't be able to put bubbles on the view with the full set, only on your view with the subset. Unless there is a special manip. Bart?

Why this question? (What context?)

"Otherwise you have to insert your underassembly outside your sheet, and insert the nomenclature related to this view." that's what I said above.

Context: Machine housing.

ho, and I almost forgot. It's probably the one that will suit you the most.

You create a nomenclature by tab, choose with numbering (just to find your way around) ... Then delete all the lines that don't interest you in it.

This way you can always point your bubbles at the overview

Or alternatively, even more simply, you can display the complete BOM, then select all the lines you don't want (SHIFT + CLICK selects all the parts in a row; CTRL + CLIC selects the parts one by one), then we hide them from the nomencalture, as in this image:

Or, you can select a list of parts in the tree or by an advanced selection or by material as in the video below, to exclude all selected objects from the nomencalture:

If you have a subassembly then it is referenced as such with its proper name

so once you are registered you just have to make your nomenclature of this said assembly

and to copy and paste this said nomenclature wherever you want

@gt22 this way I'm not going to be able to get the bubbles correct on my overview

Exclude: No because I'm using a BOM elsewhere in this main assembly
Measure an assembly out of sight, no because I couldn't have the bubbles

Or else make a config. To exclude parts from the nomenclature?

I don't know if "exclude from nomenclature" works with configs?

Edit:  this is the solution, you have to create a special configuration, the parameter "exclude from the nomenclature" is well taken into account in the configurations

Look at this link

We talk about nomenclature and bubbles via sub-assemblies

and to keep the same bubbles linked to the parts

hoping to find your happiness to solve this question

you have a lot of unsolved questions it's very surprising via the answers made

Hello

I may have a solution

In the main assembly, create a config where everything is deleted except the subset that the bill of materials wants to have.

In the drawing, from the main overview view, make a bill of materials by choosing the newly created config and check the option "Parts only"

It is possible to create a BOM with the top-level parts and assemblies, but the bubble can only correspond to a BOM (right-click on the view, property, link the balloon text to the specified table)

I hope I have been clear

I took a screenshot

The first nomenclature is the nomenclature of the main set, with the configuration where only the sub-set is not deleted

the second is the first-level nomenclature of the main set (the subset is bubbled 1)

the third is the first-level nomenclature of the subset

Yes, here is actually the solution and to create configurations and exclude unwanted parts with the "exclude from the bill of materials" option with this manip. You only get the parts you want and it works!
